Reflective dog clothing for better visibility at dusk and in the dark
Reflective dog clothing helps make your dog's silhouette stand out when light hits the reflective material. It is therefore particularly useful for autumn and winter walks, early-morning outings, walking near roads and trips in poor visibility. Depending on the model, reflective clothing can also function as a raincoat or an insulated winter coat.
Reflective material returns incoming light
A reflective surface does not glow by itself. When light from a car, headlamp or another source hits it, it reflects the light back and helps your dog stand out against dark surroundings.
Fully reflective clothing or reflective details?
Some models use reflective elements only in selected areas, while others feature reflective material across a large part of the surface. If visibility is your main priority, check how much of the individual garment is reflective.
Choose according to the weather as well
Reflectivity is only one part of the decision. For rain you need a waterproof raincoat, for freezing weather an insulated winter coat, while milder conditions may only require a lighter layer. Always consider the material, insulation and cut as well.
Reflective clothing and a dog light can complement each other
Reflective material needs incoming light, while an LED light is an active light source. During evening walks, the two therefore serve different purposes – reflective clothing makes a larger part of the dog's body stand out, while a light on the collar or harness helps you track the dog's position even when no external light is currently shining on it.
Frequently asked questions about reflective dog clothing
Does reflective dog clothing glow in the dark by itself?
No. Reflective material is not a light source. Its purpose is to reflect light that hits it, for example from car headlights, street lighting or a headlamp.
Is a bright colour the same as reflective material?
No. A bright colour can improve visibility mainly in daylight or at dusk, whereas reflective material is designed to return incoming light. Some garments combine both properties.
Is reflective clothing also waterproof or warm?
It depends on the specific model. Reflective construction mainly describes the surface or reflective elements. That is why the range includes both reflective raincoats and insulated reflective winter clothing.
How do I choose the right size of reflective clothing?
Always measure your dog according to the size chart for the specific model. You will most often need back length and chest circumference, and some cuts require additional measurements. The garment should cover the body well without restricting the dog's natural movement.
