How to choose the right harness for your dog?
A well-chosen dog harness should suit not only your dog’s size, but also their body shape and intended use. One cut works better for everyday walks, another may suit a puppy or a very active dog, while pulling sports require a harness designed specifically for working in traction.
For everyday walks and trips
For normal active life, a versatile short harness that gives the shoulders room for natural movement and is comfortable to use every day works well. Non-stop dogwear Line Harness 5.0 is a typical example.
For puppies and dogs that need more adjustability
For a growing dog or an atypical body shape, extra adjustment options are useful. An adjustable harness lets you fine-tune the girth and fit to the individual dog – for example, this is what Non-stop dogwear Ramble is designed for.
For sport and active movement
For very active dogs, a lightweight technical harness with maximum freedom of movement, such as Rush, may be a good choice. For canicross and other pulling sports, choose a specialised pulling harness such as the Freemotion Harness 5.0.
Fit is just as important as size
The harness should not restrict shoulder movement, press into the armpits or shift or twist significantly while walking. Choose based on your dog’s actual measurements, not only breed or weight. If you are unsure between models or sizes, use the Fit & Size Advisor directly on this page.
