How to choose a canicross belt or running belt?
A canicross belt is the connecting point between you, the bungee leash and your dog. When choosing one, it should fit your body well, stay in place while running and allow the pulling force to be directed through the hips rather than pulling high around the waist. Also consider how the leash attaches, the adjustment options, weight and whether you want a pocket for small items.
Sliding attachment follows the direction of pull
On CaniX belts, the carabiner can move along the front strap. When the dog pulls slightly to one side or you run through a turn, the attachment moves with it so the pulling force does not have to concentrate in a single point.
Leg straps keep the belt in place
Adjustable straps around the thighs help keep the belt in the correct position while running and under pull. Adjust them so they stabilise the belt without restricting your movement.
Comfortable all-rounder or race-day minimalism?
CaniX Belt 2.0 offers more comfort features, including a rear pocket and a non-slip inner surface. CaniX Belt Pro is significantly lighter and stripped of features that are not essential for fast racing.
CaniX Belt 2.0 or CaniX Belt Pro?
If you want a belt for regular training, racing and longer activities together and appreciate a pocket for a phone or small items, CaniX Belt 2.0 is the more versatile choice. If minimum weight and a minimalist design for fast running are your priorities, CaniX Belt Pro weighs only 125 g and is designed specifically with racing in mind.
Frequently asked questions about canicross belts
Why use a canicross belt instead of a regular waist belt?
A canicross belt is specifically designed for running with a dog in pull. It aims to direct the pulling force lower across the hips and pelvis while allowing you to run hands-free. A simple regular waist belt may not provide the same stability under stronger pulling.
How should a canicross belt fit?
It should be stable, should not ride up significantly under pull and should not restrict your running stride. Adjust the waist and leg straps according to the manufacturer's instructions and always test the belt under load.
What is the sliding carabiner for?
The leash attachment can move along the front of the belt and respond to changes in the dog's pulling direction. This is useful, for example, in turns or when the dog is not running exactly in front of the centre of your body.
What is the difference between CaniX Belt 2.0 and CaniX Belt Pro?
CaniX Belt 2.0 has an expandable rear pocket, silicone anti-slip elements and is available in several sizes. CaniX Belt Pro is significantly lighter, has a more minimalist design without a pocket and is aimed primarily at fast running and racing.
What else do I need with a canicross belt?
A suitable pulling harness for the dog and a bungee leash complete the basic canicross setup. Choose each part according to the dog's size, pulling intensity and intended use.
